(BCSNN) — A 21-point second quarter and a plus-three turnover margin powered TCU past Baylor 42–36 on Saturday afternoon at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The Horned Frogs erased an early deficit and built an 18-point lead coming out of halftime, then held off a late Baylor rally in a game marked by two hours of lightning delays.

Baylor (4–3, 2–2 Big 12) opened with a 13-play, 92-yard touchdown drive, but a fumble deep in its own territory flipped momentum. TCU (5–2, 2–2) capitalized with two quick scores, including a five-yard rush from Kevorian Barnes, and added a third touchdown before the half on a 77-yard drive capped by a Josh Hoover pass to Jordan Dwyer. Hoover finished 22-of-31 for 231 yards and three touchdowns, while Barnes rushed for 106 yards and two scores.

The Bears clawed back behind quarterback Sawyer Robertson, who threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns, including a 35-yard strike to Kole Wilson with 30 seconds left. Robertson also ran for a two-point conversion and connected with Jadon Porter for the sophomore’s first career touchdown. Baylor recovered an onside kick with a chance to win, but a holding penalty and an interception ended the comeback bid.

Freshman running back Michael Turner posted career highs with 68 rushing yards on 12 carries, and Caden Knighten added 42 yards on the ground. Josh Cameron led Baylor’s receivers with eight catches for 86 yards, while Ashtyn Hawkins added 95 yards on seven grabs. The Bears outgained TCU 439–427 in total offense but couldn’t overcome three turnovers and a decisive second quarter swing.

The loss snapped Baylor’s five-game road win streak and marked the fourth one-score finish in the last five meetings between the rivals. The Bears return to action Saturday at No. 24 Cincinnati, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN2 or ESPNU
