A pair of individuals with the Vanderbilt football program combined to pick up four awards on Monday after helping the Commodores to a victory over LSU over the weekend.
The SEC announced that Diego Pavia and Jordan White have been selected Offensive and Offensive Lineman of the Week, respectively, with the Commodore quarterback also adding honors after being named to the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 and a Manning Award Star of the Week.
The duo combined to lead a Vandy offense that finished with 399 total yards and an average of six yards per snap as the Dores defeated the Tigers, 31-24, at FirstBank Stadium. Both contributed to Vanderbilt recording the most points and rushing yards—the unit totaled 239 on the ground—allowed by LSU this season, lifting the Commodores to a 6-1 overall mark and their first Associated Press top 10 ranking since 1947 after earning their first victory in the series since the 1990 campaign.
Pavia accounted for 246 yards and three total touchdowns on Saturday, completing 14-of-22 passes for 160 yards with one score and no interceptions while also leading all players with 86 yards on 17 carries and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Pavia, who hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, gave the Commodores their first lead of the day with his first rushing touchdown while the second provided the final margin of victory. He also set up that second touchdown by keeping the drive alive with a pass for gain of 10 yards to convert a 4th-and-1 late in the third quarter.
White—a graduate transfer from Largo, Maryland—was credited by Pro Football Focus with the team’s highest overall and run block grades following the victory over the Tigers, who were ranked 10th in both polls entering the contest. In addition to his contributions to the Dore running game, he did not allow a sack or a quarterback hit in 32 pass block snaps while also helping Vandy post 20 first downs and a season-best 36½ minutes time of possession in the contest.
It’s the second time this season that White has been chosen the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
This also marks the second occasion this fall that Pavia has been recognized by both the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards. Vandy fans can now help him be selected the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week by voting here, with the poll remaining open until 9 a.m. CT Wednesday.
No. 10/12 Vanderbilt is in action again on Saturday when No. 15/14 Missouri comes to Nashville for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff at FirstBank Stadium. The game, which has already been announced as a sellout, will air on ESPN after College GameDay Built by The Home Depot is on site earlier in the day.
