(BCSNN) — Kennesaw State put together its most complete performance of the season Tuesday night, piling up 498 yards of offense and getting touchdowns from five different players in a 45–26 road win over FIU at Pitbull Stadium. The Owls improved to 5–2 overall and 3–0 in Conference USA play, extending their win streak to four games.
Quarterback Amari Odom and running back Alexander Diggs each scored on 2-yard runs in the first quarter to give KSU an early lead. Odom later connected with Coleman Bennett for a 76-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter, and Britton Williams added a 40-yard field goal to send the Owls into halftime up 24–14. Bennett’s lone catch of the night set a new KSU single-season record with 35 receptions.
FIU (3–4, 1–2 CUSA) controlled the third quarter clock but couldn’t keep the Owls off the scoreboard. On just their sixth play of the half, backup quarterback Dexter Williams II hit Christian Moss for a 70-yard touchdown. Williams later led a 10-play, 75-yard drive capped by his own rushing score to push the lead to 38–20. Chase Belcher sealed the win with a 6-yard touchdown run in the final minutes.
Kennesaw State rushed for a season-high 214 yards, led by Diggs (69 yards), Belcher (65), and a combined 66 from Odom and Williams. Odom completed 10-of-15 passes for 205 yards and a touchdown, while Williams went 2-for-2 for 79 yards and a score. Gabriel Benyard paced the receivers with five catches for 97 yards, and Moss added 93 yards on two grabs.
Defensively, Baron Hopson led the way with 12 tackles, his fourth straight double-digit effort. Tywon Christopher added seven stops and a tackle for loss, while Caleb Offord broke up two passes and tallied five tackles. The Owls dominated the disruption metrics, finishing with a 5–2 edge in tackles for loss, 2–0 in sacks, and 6–0 in pass breakups. KSU returns home to host UTEP on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in its third straight nationally televised game
