(BCSNN) — UTSA quarterback Owen McCown delivered a record-setting performance and the Roadrunners’ defense forced four turnovers to dismantle Tulane 48–26 on Thursday night at the Alamodome, handing the Green Wave their first conference loss and dealing a major blow to their playoff hopes.

McCown completed his first 16 passes and finished 31-of-33 for 370 yards and four touchdowns, setting a program record with a .940 completion percentage. He also led UTSA (4–4, 2–2 American) to a season-high 523 yards of offense and a dominant 36:55 time-of-possession advantage.

Tulane (6–2, 3–1) struck first but never led again, as UTSA scored on its opening possession for the fourth straight game and reeled off 31 first-half points. David Amador II caught 10 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, and threw a 21-yard scoring strike to Devin McCuin, who added eight catches for 96 yards and two scores.

The Roadrunners’ defense intercepted three passes — courtesy of Ahamad Chapman, Jermarius Lewis, and Tyan Milton — and recovered a fumble to match their season high in takeaways. Jimmy Wyrick led the unit with seven tackles and a fumble recovery.

UTSA improved to 24–0 at home against conference opponents under head coach Jeff Traylor, a streak dating back to 2020. The Roadrunners travel to South Florida (6–2, 3–1) next Thursday for a nationally televised showdown on ESPN.
