(BCSNN) — Alabama leaned on its defense and timely execution to take down LSU 20–9 in front of a sold-out crowd at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night. The win extended the Crimson Tide’s home winning streak to 17 games, the longest active streak in the nation.

Quarterback Ty Simpson completed 21-of-35 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown, while Lotzeir Brooks and Germie Bernard combined for 146 receiving yards. Brooks’ 53-yard catch late in the second quarter set up a 14-yard touchdown to Ryan Williams with 22 seconds left in the half, giving Alabama a 17–3 lead at the break.

The Tide defense didn’t allow a touchdown across 60 minutes, holding LSU to just 59 rushing yards on 26 attempts and 2.3 yards per carry. Deontae Lawson led the unit with nine tackles, while Yhonzae Pierre recorded two sacks and a forced fumble. Bray Hubbard and Nikhai Hill-Green each forced fumbles, and LT Overton added a sack.

Connor Talty converted field goals of 45 and 44 yards, including a late fourth-quarter kick to seal the win.

Alabama (8–1, 6–0 SEC) remained perfect at home under head coach Kalen DeBoer, who improved to 36–3 in November games and 17–2 following bye weeks. The Tide has now won 87 straight home games against unranked opponents dating back to 2007.

Up next: Alabama hosts Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
