(BCSNN) — The Broncos are postseason bound. Western Michigan is going bowling.

The Broncos punched their postseason ticket Tuesday night with a gritty 17–13 comeback win over defending MAC champion Ohio at Stafford-Smith Field at Waldo Stadium. It marks WMU’s third win this season when trailing at halftime and secures bowl eligibility for the first time under head coach Lance Taylor.

After managing just a field goal in the first half, Western Michigan (6–4, 5–1 MAC) came alive in the second. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Broc Lowry led the charge, throwing for 126 yards and rushing for 92 more, including a third-quarter touchdown that gave the Broncos their first lead.

Jalen Buckley added 82 yards on 14 carries and scored the game-winning touchdown with 11:42 left in the fourth quarter, following a 71-yard catch-and-run by Tailique Williams that flipped the field and the momentum.

The WMU defense was relentless, holding Ohio (6–4, 4–2 MAC) to just 70 passing yards and forcing a critical first-quarter interception by Tate Hallock, who returned it 37 yards to set up the game’s opening points. Hallock also added three tackles and a pass breakup. James Camden led the team with 10 tackles, while Joshua Franklin broke up two passes and made five stops.

Ohio’s 17-play, 75-yard drive gave the Bobcats a brief 13–10 lead early in the fourth, but a missed extra point left the door open. The Broncos slammed it shut with a two-play, 75-yard response and a lockdown defensive stand to seal the win.

There is still some regular-season action left for the Broncos with Western Michigan traveling to Northern Illinois next. That one is on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
