(BCSNN) — The Rockets are going bowling. Toledo quarterback Tucker Gleason threw for two touchdowns and the Rockets’ defense delivered a suffocating performance in a 24–3 win over Miami on Wednesday night at Yager Stadium. The victory moved Toledo (6–4, 4–2 MAC) into a five-way tie for second place in the Mid-American Conference and secured bowl eligibility for the 16th consecutive season — the sixth-longest active streak in the nation.

After a pair of early interceptions stalled momentum, Toledo surged late in the second quarter with back-to-back touchdown drives to take a 14–0 lead into halftime. The Rockets scored on their first two possessions of the second half and never looked back, holding Miami (5–5, 4–2 MAC) to just 222 total yards and zero touchdowns.

Toledo’s defense was relentless, recording a season-high six sacks and three interceptions. Linebackers Chris D’Appolonia and K’Von Sherman led the charge with eight and seven tackles, respectively. Nasir Bowers, Braden Awls, and Avery Smith each picked off a pass.

Running back Chip Trayanum powered the ground game with 96 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Gleason spread the ball efficiently, connecting with Ryder Treadway and Trayvon Rudolph for a combined 95 receiving yards. Treadway added a third-quarter touchdown to extend the lead.

Next for the Rockets, Toledo will return home to host Ball State on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. ET, with that game airing on ESPN+.
