(BCSNN) — Western Michigan secured its place in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championship Game with a 31–21 victory over Eastern Michigan Tuesday night at Rynearson Stadium. The win sends the Broncos to their fourth MAC title game in program history.
Eastern Michigan struck first with a touchdown in the opening quarter, but Western Michigan responded with authority. The Broncos rattled off 31 consecutive points, fueled by a relentless defense that forced five turnovers.
Redshirt sophomore quarterback Broc Lowry led the charge, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns while adding 100 yards through the air. Jalen Buckley contributed 70 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Tailique Williams added a career-high 67 yards and a score.
The Broncos’ defense was opportunistic throughout the night. Aaron Wofford, Joey Pope, and Sefa Saipaia Jr. each recorded interceptions, while Nadame Tucker added a strip sack. Tate Hallock paced the unit with seven tackles and forced a fumble that John Peters returned 35 yards.
Western Michigan’s balanced attack and defensive pressure proved decisive, as the Broncos built a commanding lead before Eastern Michigan added late points to narrow the margin.
The victory capped a statement performance for WMU, which showcased both offensive versatility and defensive resilience in a rivalry matchup.
With the win, Western Michigan punched its ticket to the MAC Championship Game, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 at noon on ESPN. The Broncos’ opponent will be determined following the completion of the conference’s regular season slate this weekend.
