(BCSNN) - The dynasty tide has turned. For years, Alabama haunted Georgia in SEC Championship Games, but on Saturday night inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Bulldogs exorcised those demons and shattered the Crimson Tide’s aura of invincibility.

No. 3 Georgia (12–1) dominated No. 9 Alabama (10–3) in a 28–7 victory, capturing its second consecutive SEC crown and 16th overall. The Bulldogs held Alabama scoreless for three quarters, suffocated the Tide’s offense to just 209 total yards, and imposed their will in all three phases of the game.

“This was about proving who we are,” head coach Kirby Smart said. “We’ve been chasing Alabama for a long time, but tonight we showed we can break through and keep pushing forward.”

Quarterback Gunner Stockton was efficient, completing 20 of 26 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Nate Frazier added 141 rushing yards and a score, while Georgia’s defense humiliated Alabama’s ground game, holding the Tide to minus-3 rushing yards.

The tone was set early when Cole Speer blocked a punt, leading to Roderick Robinson II’s touchdown reception. Daylen Everette’s interception soon after gave Georgia another short field, and Stockton connected with Dillon Bell for a 14–0 lead. By halftime, Alabama had just 70 yards of offense and looked rattled, unable to solve Georgia’s relentless pressure.

The Bulldogs extended their dominance in the third quarter with Frazier’s nine-yard touchdown run. Alabama finally broke through in the fourth with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Ty Simpson to Germie Bernard, but Georgia answered immediately. Stockton found Zachariah Branch for a 13-yard score to slam the door shut.

Defensively, JaCorey Thomas led with six tackles and a sack, while CJ Allen, Raylen Wilson, and Chris Cole each added five stops. The Bulldogs sacked Simpson three times and forced four turnovers, leaving Alabama battered and broken.

For Georgia, the win was more than a championship — it was a statement. After years of frustration against Alabama, the Bulldogs not only beat the Tide, they dismantled them, stripping away the mystique of a program that once defined SEC dominance.

Georgia now heads to the College Football Playoff for the fourth time in five years, with its sights set on another national title. Alabama, meanwhile, is left searching for answers after being outclassed and outmuscled by a rival that has finally seized control of the SEC.
