Stanford football and Arizona State announced a new home-and-home series that begins in 2031.

Arizona State, formerly members of the Pac-12 with Stanford and now affiliated with the Big 12, will come to Stanford Stadium for a home game on Sept. 6, 2031. Stanford will make a return trip to Tempe on Sept. 11, 2032. This will be just the second meeting between Stanford and Arizona State that is not a conference game. The two met in the 2013 Pac-12 Championship game, won by the Cardinal 38-14.

These former conference rivals have not met since 2022, when the Cardinal downed the Sun Devils 15-14 on The Farm. Over the last nine meetings between the two, Stanford has won seven, dating back to 2009. Among programs with an active football team, Stanford has faced Arizona State the tenth most times of any program (34).

Despite being six years out, this puts two nonconference games on Stanford’s 2031 schedule. The Cardinal will play the Bill Walsh Legacy Game at CEFCU Stadium against San Jose State on Sept. 20, 2031. With the current ACC scheduling model of nine conference games, this would leave just one open slot on Stanford’s schedule.
