(BCSNN) — Oklahoma State wrapped up its 2026 spring practice slate Saturday with the offense edging the defense 42–33 in front of an estimated 13,000 fans at Boone Pickens Stadium, closing a productive month of development with a showcase of explosive plays and emerging contributors.

The 90‑minute scrimmage featured live action, in‑game interviews with current and former Cowboys, performances from the OSU marching band and a full‑team meet‑and‑greet on the field afterward — a fan‑friendly finish to the program’s spring calendar.

The defense opened the day with an early spark when safety Cameron Epps intercepted a deep ball on the first pass attempt of the scrimmage, putting seven points on the board. But quarterback Drew Mestemaker, coming off a record‑setting freshman season, quickly answered with a 26‑yard completion to wide receiver Justin Bowlick to even the score.

Midway through the scrimmage, Mestemaker delivered the play of the afternoon — a 98‑yard strike from his own end zone to Chris Barnes, pushing the offense ahead and energizing the crowd. The momentum continued with a 25‑yard drive capped by a 1‑yard touchdown run from star running back Caleb Hawkins, extending the lead to 22–12.

Mestemaker later connected with Wyatt Young for a 38‑yard touchdown, his third scoring throw of the day. Freshman quarterback Luke Tepas added another highlight, finding fellow freshman Jabarie Thornton for a red‑zone touchdown.

Defensively, Jaleel Johnson stood out with multiple sacks and tackles for loss, while kickers Sam Keltner and Joseph Kim each converted multiple field goals.

The performance offered a glimpse of the balance and depth Oklahoma State hopes to carry into the fall as the Cowboys prepare for a season opener at Tulsa on Sept. 5.
