(BCSNN) — TCU has dismissed safety Jacob Fields, a high‑profile transfer from Louisiana Tech, for an unspecified violation of team rules, a school spokesman confirmed.
“Due to a violation of team rules, Jacob Fields has been removed from our roster and will not be a member of our football team moving forward,” the spokesman said in a statement.
Fields arrived at TCU expected to step directly into a starting role after earning Conference USA Co‑Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2025. He started 12 games for Louisiana Tech last season and became the first defensive back since 2014 to lead the Bulldogs in tackles, finishing with 92 stops, three interceptions — two returned for touchdowns — 2.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups.
His dismissal leaves TCU without the player projected to replace standout safety Bud Clark, a second‑round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks. The Horned Frogs will now turn to Jamel Johnson, who led the team with five interceptions last season, along with other depth options in the secondary.
Fields, a native of Melissa, Texas, made 21 career starts at Louisiana Tech before transferring to TCU.
The Horned Frogs open the season Aug. 29 against North Carolina in Dublin, beginning a year in which Fields had been expected to play a major role
