(BCSNN) — No. 21 Utah opened its 2026 season with a statement, unleashing a relentless offensive attack and a suffocating defense in a 66–14 rout of Idaho on Thursday night at Rice‑Eccles Stadium. In front of 51,444 fans, the Utes piled up 633 yards of total offense, their highest output since 2022, while extending their streak of home‑opening victories to 18 straight.

Running back Wayshawn Parker delivered the best performance of his career, scoring three touchdowns — two receiving and one rushing — and becoming one of three Utah players to surpass 70 yards on the ground. Quarterback Devon Dampier was equally sharp, completing 13 of 18 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns, marking his eighth straight game with multiple passing scores.

Utah wasted no time asserting control. The Utes scored on five of their six first‑half possessions, beginning with a pair of Dampier‑to‑Parker touchdown connections that showcased their chemistry and Utah’s offensive versatility. Wide receiver Braden Pegan added his first touchdown as a Ute in the second quarter, then followed it with a 12‑yard rushing score. Pegan finished with four catches for 81 yards, leading a receiving group that saw eight different players record a reception.
