Baylor football senior punter Palmer Williams has been named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week for Week One of the 2026 season, as announced Wednesday by the Augusta Sports Council.

Williams, a 2025 All-American and Ray Guy Award finalist, picked right up where he left off in the 2026 season opener with four punts for 208 total yards, averaging 52 yards per punt. His first boot traveled 46 yards and was fair caught at the Auburn 2-yard line, marking his 34th career punt that has landed inside the 20. Then, his next three kicks each went 54 yards, giving him now 40 career punts of over 50 yards.

The native of Advance, N.C., forced three fair catches as only one of his punts was returned, giving him a net punting average of 51.5 yards. Williams played a critical role in flipping field position and helping Baylor get back into the ballgame, nearly stealing a last-second win over the Tigers.

Williams was selected as Week One's Punter of the Week after earning a spot on Ray's 8, which included Evan Crenshaw (Troy), Max Fletcher (Cincinnati), Aidan Flintoft (Stanford), Kade Reynoldson (Duke), Gavin Rush (Arkansas), Jack Smith (Clemson) and AJ Winsor (Oregon State).
