University of Michigan men's soccer coach Chaka Daley announced the completion of his 2022 staff, hiring Marcos Ugarte as an assistant coach and Webb Sarris as a program assistant.

Ugarte is a former Michigan soccer player from 2013-14 and spent one season as the volunteer assistant coach from 2017-18. In his time as a volunteer coach with the Wolverines, U-M won the 2017 Big Ten Regular Season Championship and made an NCAA second round appearance.

Most recently, Ugarte spent the last three seasons coaching and playing in the USL Championship with Birmingham Legion FC. He was a First Team player while also being the Academy Director and head coach.

"We are excited to welcome Marcos back to Michigan and our program," said Daley. "He has always had the highest integrity and that matched with his work ethic and soccer IQ made him the ideal choice to assist our student-athletes as they grow in the classroom and on the field."

Following his collegiate playing career, Ugarte spent six seasons playing professionally and signed his first contract in 2015 with Rochester New York FC (formerly known as the Rochester Rhinos) in the USL Championship where he played two seasons and helped the team win the USL Cup in his rookie campaign. He also spent time with Ringkobing IF in Denmark's Division 2.

Along with Ugarte, Daley hired Sarris as the team's program assistant. Sarris spent the last four seasons as a student manager and graduated from the University of Michigan from the School of Kinesiology with his bachelors in sport management.

"Webb has been an amazing addition to our program during his time as a manager in his undergraduate career," said Daley. "His professionalism, connectivity to the group and the community added to his service make him not only an easy selection, but also the best choice as our program assistant."

Sarris has also spent time as a coach with the Liverpool F.C. International Academy Michigan and interned with the Gotham Soccer League in New York City.

He was the recipient of the James B. Angell Scholar Award and is a three-time University of Michigan Honor Award Recipient. He is currently working on his Master of Management in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business and will graduate in May 2022.
