Charlotte Men's Soccer (3-2-1) takes down Central Arkansas (0-5-1) 4-1 on Wednesday night to close out a two-game homestretch.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Charlotte came out in control from the start, taking five shots within the first 15 minutes of the game, one of which found the goal off the foot of Denis Krioutchenkov (2) in the 14th minute to give the Niners a quick 1-0 lead. A lead that the Niners took into the half.
Out of the break, Charlotte maintained control. The Bears tried to be aggressive, but a little too much aggression led to a foul in the box on Charlotte's Tate Asante, which allowed the Niners to strike again on a penalty kick taken by Orthodoxos Orthodoxou in the 55th minute.
Ten minutes later, Orthodoxou found the goal again in the 65th minute, this time off a deflection off the post that at the time, gave Charlotte a comfortable 3-0 lead for his third goal of the season. Shortly after, also in the 65th minute, Central Arkansas' Devonte Richards scored the lone goal for the Bears off a long shot to make it 3-1.
To seal the deal, in the 87th minute, American Conference Freshman of the Week, Wiktor Pucilowski, scored his first collegiate goal to finalize the score at 4-1, Charlotte.
Both shots taken and shots on goal were in the Niners' favor, with Charlotte taking 26 shots, 16 of which were on goal, compared to Central Arkansas' six shots, five of which were on goal. Charlotte keeper Leo Stritter recorded five saves in the victory, while UCA keeper Merrick Cook recorded 12 saves in his first start this season.
