For the second consecutive week, the East Carolina Pirates have earned a weekly conference honor, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Senior left-hander Ryan Towers was named co-American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week following his dominant performance Friday night against Memphis.
In his 10th start of the season, Towers delivered a career-best outing, tossing 7.0 shutout innings. The performance surpassed his previous career high of 6.0 innings, set in March 2024 against Gonzaga while at Loyola Marymount.
Towers was in complete control throughout the night, earning the win while matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. He did not allow a hit or a run, holding Memphis to just three hits and one walk across 27 batters faced. He also set a new personal best with 105 pitches, marking the longest outing of his collegiate career.
Towers lowered his season ERA to 3.68, improving to 36.2 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts on the year. He has held opponents to a .229 batting average while picking up five wins so far this season.
