The back-to-back-to-back Conference USA champion North Texas men's basketball team has signed Kai Huntsberry, one of the top scorers in NCAA Division II this past season.

The 6-foot-3 guard played last year at University of Mary where he averaged 19.6 points per game (510 total) and had a 42-point performance in his respective conference tournament.

Huntsberry will join the Mean Green as a senior with one year of eligibility remaining.

He was a 2022 First Team All-Northern Sun Conference honoree and the league's Newcomer of the Year.

Along with his dynamic scoring, Huntsberry had 112 total assists in his team's 28 games. He made 61 3-pointers at nearly a 42 percent clip. Cold blooded at the free throw line, he made 83 percent of his 95 free throw attempts.

Huntsberry scored 20 or more points in over half of his team's games last year. His 42 versus Minnesota Duluth in the conference tournament tied the school record for single-game scoring. He averaged 35.5 points per game in the postseason last year, which was a school record. Prior to joining UMary last season, the New Orleans native played two seasons at San Diego City College where he was a two-time All-PCAC honoree including a first team selection as a sophomore.
