(BCSNN) — Anthony Roy scored a season‑high 30 points and Oklahoma State held off a dominant performance from BYU freshman AJ Dybantsa to earn a 99–92 win over the 16th‑ranked Cougars on Wednesday night.
The victory marked the Cowboys’ second straight and their biggest win of the season, prompting fans to storm the court.
Dybantsa delivered one of the top individual outings of the year, finishing with 36 points, seven rebounds and five made threes. But BYU (17–5, 5–4 Big 12) dropped its third straight game and suffered its first loss to an unranked opponent this season.
Jaylen Curry scored 18 points and Vyctorius Miller added 14 for Oklahoma State (16–6, 4–5), which rebounded sharply from its previous home game against a ranked opponent — an 84–71 loss to No. 9 Iowa State in which the Cowboys trailed by 30 at halftime.
Richie Saunders added 20 points and eight rebounds for BYU, which has also fallen to No. 1 Arizona and No. 14 Kansas in recent weeks.
Oklahoma State opened fast, taking a 20–9 lead as Roy scored eight points in the first eight minutes. Dybantsa’s surge brought BYU back, and his dunk in the closing seconds of the first half tied the game at 41.
Saunders gave BYU its first lead early in the second half, but the teams traded baskets until the Cowboys seized control late. Roy’s three‑pointer pushed the margin to 81–69 with just over four minutes remaining, and Oklahoma State held on from there.
