(BCSNN) — Northern Illinois men’s basketball head coach Rashon Burno has resigned after five seasons leading the Huskies, NIU Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Sean T. Frazier announced Saturday.
Frazier thanked Burno for his leadership and the program’s academic success during his tenure. “We appreciate the commitment to our student‑athletes and wish him all the best going forward,” Frazier said.
Burno expressed gratitude for his time at NIU, noting that the decision came after discussions with his family. “I have decided to step away to explore other opportunities,” he said.
NIU has hired CSA Search & Consulting to conduct a national search for its next head coach. Executive Associate Athletic Director Courtney Vinson, the sport administrator for men’s basketball, will oversee the program until a new coach is named.
