(BCSNN) -- Louisville has been on a roll as of late, with the Cards pulling off another eye‑opening move this offseason. Former North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has committed to the Cardinals, which gives Louisville yet another marquee addition for the 2026–27 campaign.

Trimble entered the transfer portal in the spring, but a recent Colorado district court ruling granting Class of 2022 high school athletes a fifth season of eligibility opened the door for him to play next year. The ruling, still facing NCAA challenges, has already reshaped the market — and Louisville wasted no time capitalizing.

Trimble said he still considers North Carolina “home” and valued his time in Chapel Hill, but acknowledged that a roster logjam pushed him to explore a fresh opportunity.

The move is a significant pickup. Trimble averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists last season and scored 971 career points across 126 games in four seasons with the Tar Heels. He also played in five Las Vegas Summer League games for the Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 points and 4.0 rebounds, showcasing his ability to compete at a professional pace.

If the Colorado ruling holds, Trimble joins one of the most loaded transfer classes in the country. Louisville has already added ESPN No. 2 overall transfer Flory Bidunga, No. 11 Jackson Shelstad, No. 60 Alvaro Folgueiras, and No. 69 Karter Knox. As of last week, the Cardinals ranked 12th in ESPN’s Way‑Too‑Early Top 25.

For a program already surging under new leadership, landing a proven ACC veteran with high‑level production — this late in the cycle — is a statement. Louisville didn’t just add depth. It added experience, scoring, and a player who has thrived on big stages.
