Iowa State redshirt senior tight end Jared Rus has been named one of 156 semifinalists for the 2022 William V. Campbell Trophy, which was won last year by former Cyclone Charlie Kolar.

The semifinalists were nominated by their schools as the best all-around student-athlete on their respective football teams. Each nominee must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first-team player or significant contributor and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship. The candidates come from all levels of play in the NCAA and the NAIA.

Rus, a native of Eldridge, Iowa, was an All-Big 12 First-Team selection last season on the field and has already earned his bachelor's degree in finance.

Rus has made nine career starts, while seeing action in 31 career games for the Cyclones. He's got five receptions this season, two off his career high for a single year. Rus is used in many situations as a lead blocking back in the Cyclone rushing attack.
