No. 3/4 Texas Football quarterback Quinn Ewers was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Top 25, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation announced. It marked the first time in his career that Ewers was named to the list.

Ewers has guided the Longhorns to a 5-0 record this season, the best start for Texas since 2009. On the year, the sophomore has completed 97-of-147 passes (66.0%) for 1,358 yards and 10 touchdowns and one interception, while rushing 25 times for 50 yards and five touchdowns. The Southlake, Texas native ranks third in the Big 12 Conference in passing yards, touchdown passes, completion percentage, passing efficiency (164.7%), passing yards per game (271.6), yards per completion (14.00), and yards per attempt (9.24) while tying for the conference lead in touchdown runs.

In Texas' week two victory over then-No. 3 Alabama, Ewers completed 24-of-38 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns to guide the Longhorns to a 34-24 victory, the program's first road win over a top-3 team since 1969. He led the Longhorns' 21-point fourth quarter effort with a pair of touchdown passes that lifted Texas to victory and snapped the Crimson Tide's 21-game home winning streak. In that fourth quarter, Ewers completed 6-of-7 passes for 135 yards and the two scores. He performance earned him Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, Maxwell Player of the Week, Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week, Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors and a place among the Manning Stars of the Week.

Last week, Ewers collected Tyler Rose Award honorable mention player of the week accolades after quarterbacking Texas to a 40-14 win over No. 24/24 Kansas, completing 25-of-35 passes for 325 yards and one touchdown, while also rushing seven times for career highs of 40 yards and two touchdowns. He opened the scoring with a career-long 30-yard touchdown run and had a 1-yard touchdown run for the final score of the game.  

The Golden Arm Award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class. The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the distinguished Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players. Candidates are chosen based on player performance on-and-off the field.

The 2023 award winner will be presented the Golden Arm Award trophy by The Johnny Unitas Educational Foundation President, John Unitas, Jr., as well as other notable attendees at the Golden Arm Award banquet and celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
