(BCSNN) -- Despite high hopes early on, the up and down relationship between Hardley Gilmore IV and Kentucky Wildcats Football has officially come to an end.

A UK spokesperson confirmed to WKYT that the wide receiver has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules. Gilmore was also absent from Kentucky’s practice roster released on Aug. 6, further signaling his departure.

Gilmore’s exit closes a tumultuous chapter in Lexington. The talented receiver entered the NCAA transfer portal after each of the last two seasons, only to return to Kentucky both times. This offseason brought yet another reunion, with Gilmore rejoining the Wildcats ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Now, his Kentucky career is over.

Gilmore arrived as a highly regarded prospect and flashed potential during his time with the Wildcats. But his tenure was defined by uncertainty, as he repeatedly explored transfer opportunities before ultimately returning to the program.

Kentucky is one week into fall camp as it prepares for the upcoming season. With Gilmore no longer on the roster, the Wildcats will move forward without one of the more intriguing talents in their receiver room.

Neither Kentucky nor Gilmore has released additional details regarding the violation that led to his dismissal.

Gilmore becomes the latest roster change for a Kentucky team working to solidify its depth chart as the season approaches.  Can the Wildcats get things on track in time to be competitive come SEC play? Only time will tell.
