BCSNN — Just when it appeared Buffalo’s four-game winning streak was about to end, the Bulls authored one of the most improbable comebacks of the MAC season.

Trailing by 15 points in the fourth quarter on the road Tuesday night, Buffalo rallied with two late touchdowns, forced overtime and then watched Miami (Ohio)’s game-tying field goal attempt clang off the right upright to secure a dramatic 34–31 victory at Yager Stadium.

The win improved Buffalo to 6–3 overall and 4–1 in Mid-American Conference play, extended the Bulls’ winning streak to four games and marked their first victory in Oxford since 2015.

Buffalo looked dead in the water midway through the fourth quarter, trailing 31–16 before quarterback Jason Wright sparked the comeback. Wright connected with Chance Morrow on a four-yard touchdown pass with 8:56 remaining, then found the receiver again for the two-point conversion to trim the deficit to seven.

The defense took over from there.

After Miami drove into Buffalo territory on its next possession, defensive end Will Clark recorded a key sack that pushed the RedHawks out of field-goal range. The stop forced a punt and gave the Bulls one more opportunity to tie the game.

Wright made sure they capitalized. Taking over with just over five minutes remaining, he calmly guided Buffalo 80 yards down the field before scoring on a two-yard quarterback keeper with 1:35 left. The touchdown evened the score at 31–31 and completed Buffalo’s remarkable comeback from a two-score deficit.

The drama continued in overtime.

Buffalo struck first when kicker Oliver Hautanen drilled a 27-yard field goal to give the Bulls a 34–31 advantage. Miami appeared poised to answer, but defensive back John Keough broke up a potential touchdown pass on third down, forcing the RedHawks to attempt a field goal. The kick drifted wide right, setting off a jubilant celebration among Buffalo players who stormed the field.

The victory capped career nights for both Wright and Morrow. Wright threw for a career-high 358 yards and two touchdowns, adding two more scores on the ground. Morrow turned in one of the best receiving performances in recent program history, catching 12 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns, finishing just one reception shy of the school record.

Buffalo’s defense needed time to settle in but became the difference in the second half. The Bulls recorded a season-best five sacks and nine tackles for loss, repeatedly disrupting Miami’s offense when it mattered most. Clark and Sedrick Vessah led the charge with two sacks each, while Clark’s fourth-quarter pressure helped ignite the comeback.

What began as a frustrating night ended as one of Buffalo’s most memorable wins of the season. The Bulls now sit firmly in the MAC race and carry plenty of momentum into next week’s road matchup at Ball State.
