Providence College men's hockey has announced the signing of Kale McCallum (Fredericton, N.B.) to an athletic aid agreement beginning in the 2025-26 season. He'll have two years of eligibility remaining.
McCallum spent the last three seasons with the University of New Brunswick (USports) after a four-year career in the QMJHL with Saint John and Val-d'Or.
The 5-foot-11, 183-pound defenseman totaled 39 points on 13 goals and 26 assists for the Reds in 2024-25, earning USports First Team All-Canadian honors and Atlantic University Sport (AUS) First Team All-Star recognition. The 23-year old earned USports Defenseman of the Year accolades in 2023-24 after registering 42 points on 11 goals and 31 assists in 30 games played. McCallum helped guide the Reds to back-to-back University Cup titles in 2023 and 2024. He participated in Development Camp with the New York Rangers in 2024.
Prior to New Brunswick, McCallum appeared in 184 games in the QMJHL where he amassed 127 points on 33 goals and 94 assists. He began his QMJHL career with the Saint John Sea Dogs (2019-21) before joining the Val-d'Or Foreurs for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He notched career-highs with Val-d'Or in 2021-22 in goals (19), assists (50) and points (69).
