Three Arizona State Alums Earn Spots on NHL and AHL Team Rosters

Three Sun Devils for Life went through their respective NHL training camps over the last two weeks, which featured approximately 40 players in each camp. On Tuesday and Wednesday, all 31 teams made their final cuts down to the NHL mandated 23-player roster, along with an additional four to six players on a taxi squad. The taxi squad, which was implemented in 2020-21 to help with COVID-19 protocols, will be with the NHL team, practice with the NHL, and travel with the NHL team but they are not counted against the roster of the NHL team.

Texas Tech junior Mac McClung brought the ball up the court and drilled a jumper with 3 seconds remaining to lift No. 15 Texas Tech to a 79-77 win at No. 4 Texas on Wednesday at the Frank Erwin Center. The win was the first top-5 victory on the road for the Red Raiders in program history and the third straight victory for Tech on the Longhorns' home court after snapping a 22-game losing streak in Austin.

Incoming Troy freshman wide receiver Peyton Higgins was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association Super All-State Team Tuesday evening. Selected by ASWA members, the team is comprised of the top 12 players in the state, regardless of classification or position.

Little Rock head coach Chris Curry has announced the 2021 Little Rock baseball schedule, scheduled to get underway the third weekend of February. 53 games are on this year's slate for the Trojans, including 18 games at Gary Hogan Field and at least two games against every other in-state Division I opponent.
