The Football Writers Association of America selected TCU as the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week after its 30-28 victory over No. 12 Baylor on Saturday.

Joey McGuire, a 2020 inductee into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor, has been named the 17th head football coach in Texas Tech history, Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt announced Monday.

The Big 12 Conference announced late Saturday night that Texas Tech will host Iowa State in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff next Saturday inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Television coverage will be provided nationally on ESPN2.

Texas Football true freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc. announced on Wednesday. Worthy is the first Longhorn to be named to the watch list since 2019 when both Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson were recognized by the organization.

Kansas State sophomore defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah earned his third and fourth honors this week as he was named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week and Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week.

Oklahoma freshmen Caleb Williams (offensive) and Mario Williams (newcomer) joined Kansas State’s Felix Anudike-Uzomah (defensive) and Oklahoma State’s Tanner Brown (special teams) as Big 12 Football Players of the Week for games of October 30. Caleb Williams picked up his third weekly honor of the season while Anudike-Uzomah was recognized for the second time.

Kansas State sophomore defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah has been named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Sunday.

Texas Football came up short, 31-24, at No. 16/18 Baylor on Saturday at McLane Stadium. Casey Thompson passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Kansas State Football will try to claw its way back into the win column when the Wildcats host Iowa State on Saturday for the 105th meeting in this long-runng rivalry dubbed, Farmageddon. K-State is coming off two tough losses that saw undefeated Oklahoma State and Oklahoma both edge the Wildcats. As for Iowa State, the Cyclones have had a couple trip-ups this season, falling to Iowa (6-0) and Baylor (5-1), but looking strong otherwise.

The Big 12 has announced its 2021-22 men’s basketball preseason awards and team as voted by the head coaches. Kansas’ Remy Martin was selected Preseason Player of the Year while Texas’ Marcus Carr picked up Newcomer of the Year and Baylor’s Kendall Brown was named Freshman of the Year.

After opening a season with four consecutive home games for just the second time in its history, TCU is on the road for a second consecutive week as it makes the short trek up I-35 to face No. 4 Oklahoma on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
