The Buckeyes’ Bruce Thornton, one of the nation’s top scorers, missed a contested three at the buzzer.

The sixth‑seeded Cardinals (24–10) led by as many as 23 points in the second half before the 11th‑seeded Bulls (25–9) nearly completed what would have been the second‑largest comeback in tournament history.
