Behind a hot-shooting second half, the 14th-seed UCF men's basketball team defeated 11th-seeded Utah, 87-72, Tuesday night in the opening round of the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championship at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

Texas Tech sophomore JT Toppin dominated on the court this season and has now been rewarded by being named the Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, to the All-Big 12 First Team and the All-Big 12 Newcomer Team.
